The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Monday morning, Jan. 12, warning that we may be in for another messy morning, right at the point when school buses will be on the road and the workday commute is at its high point.

The advisory is in effect for Southern CT from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Monday. It calls for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain, and predicts snow accumulation of up to 1-inch, along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice. Temperatures are predicted to be in the lower 30s.

According to the NWS, precipitation will develop late Sunday night, and the heaviest of the wintry precipitation will fall during the Monday morning commute. They warn of “hazardous travel expiated Monday morning due to icy roadways and walkways.” Precipitation will likely change to rain by Monday afternoon.
