To the Editor:

On Saturday, Dec. 9, Woodcock Nature Center concluded its annual Wreath Festival with a “Family Fun Day” decorating celebration attended by nearly 100 families. The two-week festival, which sold-out in minutes, welcomed over 1,000 guests and raised $80,000 for the nature center’s programs in environmental education. Each year, the popular event pairs the decorating of balsam wreaths with relaxing by a roaring fire among friends in Woodcock’s picturesque pavilion.

The board and staff at Woodcock Nature Center wish to express their gratitude to event sponsor Fairfield County Bank as well as all the dedicated volunteers and friends who helped to make the event a success including:

The Breitenbach Family, the Carlson Family, Cellar XV Wines/Betsy and Doug Thompson, Geri Clark, Donna Correale, Diageo/John Mooney, Maryann Eggleston, Jon Farkas, the Hogan Family, the Keaveny Family, Ranger Kristin, Melissa Lukas, National Charity League–Nutmeg Chapter, National Charity League–Ridgefield Chapter, the Ogden Family, PJ Oppel, James Osborn, Ridgefield Boy Scout Troop 76, Mike Rubbo, Ron Rucolas, Lindsay Sheehy, Jennifer Soudagar, Rich Vail, Village Market, Weir Farm, Andy Williams, Brooke Wyatt and Jake Young. We are also grateful to the numerous volunteers who took the time to collect and deliver decorating materials.

Thank you especially to all our attendees for making Woodcock Nature Center’s Wreath Festival a part of your holiday celebrations and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Until then, remember to take advantage of Woodcock’s hiking trails throughout the winter season (open free from dawn-to-dusk daily) and join us in 2019 for a program or special event (details online).

All the best for a delightful holiday season!
