GOOD Game: Wilton High School Baseball Field Gets $150,000 Makeover
On Saturday, Apr. 11, Wilton High School unveiled its refreshed and renewed varsity baseball field. At over a decade in planning, the project’s $150,000-plus cost was funded by the Wilton Baseball Association (WBA), the booster organization that supports baseball play from the youth through high school levels, as well as donations from individual families and the Wilton Athletic and Recreation Foundation (WARF).
The project involved removing all of the chain link fencing around the field and replacing it with mesh netting for optimal spectator viewing; building new and extended batting cages; installing raised bleachers behind home plate; refreshing the dugouts, and installing a new public address system.
The Wilton Baseball association worked closely with high school officials, including Athletic Director Bobby Rushton, new baseball head coach Kevin Toohill and Wilton Public Schools Superintendent Dr Kevin Smith. On the WBA side, the project was led by WBA board members Greg Topalian, Marty Avallone and Steve Manners, and completed with the donated time and skills of architect Tim Geitz and building management of David Sansone.
Rushton thanked the vendors and WBA board members at the opening ceremony. “You’ve helped create an environment that will serve our student athletes for years to come,” he said.
GOOD Celebration: A Better Chance of Wilton’s 30th Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, May 16, (6:30-10 p.m.) the community is invited to join A Better Chance of Wilton in saying thank you and reflecting in remembrance of the architecture and first chapter of its story at the Shore and Country Club of Norwalk. This milestone evening honors 30 years of impact, opportunity and transformation.
The program will recognize the founding committee of Maureen Graham, Dr. David Graybill and Dr. John Sullivan for their vision, motivation and persistence in establishing A Better Chance of Wilton. Also being honored is Ray Chambers, the program’s first graduate in 1999, who attended Brown University, earned an MBA from Harvard, and is now one of Google’s top strategists. Amanda Allison and Onessa Harewood will be recognized as the first graduates of the girls’ Scholar program in 2012; Allison is a private school teacher in New York City and serves on the ABC of Wilton Board of Directors as Alumni Relations member, and Harewood is a successful independent business owner.
Hosted by A Better Chance of Wilton alumnus Chris Payne (Class of 2008), the evening will feature a sit down dinner, silent auction, live music and dancing.
Tickets are $250 per person and are available online; sponsorships and donations also available to support the program’s continued mission.
GOOD Activism: Girl Scouts and Ms President US Team Up to Host Girl-Centered Day of Civic Learning and Action

This Sunday, Apr 26, the Clune Center at Wilton High School will come alive with energy, leadership and civic engagement as two dynamic programs join together for a powerful, girl-centered day of learning and action: Girl Scouts in Government Day 2026 and the Ms President US 2026 Signature Campaign & Election.
This unique, two-part event (offered free and open to the public) invites girls of all ages to explore how government works, why their voices matter, and how they can step into leadership roles in their communities and beyond.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Girl Scouts in Government Day — Girl Scouts in Government Day offers an engaging, fast-paced introduction to civics, leadership and activism. Led by Ms President US leader and board member/Girl Scout Troop 50373 leader Alison Smith, participants will rotate through interactive, mentor-led stations designed to spark curiosity and confidence. Girls will explore why girls in government matter, how voting works, understanding government (local, state and federal) and creating meaningful change through activism. Ms President US high school mentors, many of whom are also Girl Scouts, will guide each experience, creating a powerful peer-to-peer learning environment.
1-2:30 p.m.: Ms President US Signature Campaign and Election — Girls and their families are invited to witness democracy in action as the Clune Center will transform into a vibrant election space where girls can watch candidates deliver campaign speeches, hear from community and government representatives and participate in a real voting process. Election winners will be announced at approximately 2:15 p.m., followed by a celebratory cupcake reception for all attendees.
Admission is free, but an online RSVP is required to attend the election. The event is perfect for Girl Scout troops (Daisy through Ambassador); families and community members; and girls interested in leadership, government and making a difference. Younger Girl Scouts (D/B/J) can fulfill multiple badge requirements. Older Girl Scouts are encouraged to attend both parts of the event for a complete experience.
